Late May is one of the best times to visit the UK and Scotland, with long daylight hours, mild temperatures (typically high 50s to low 70s), and beautiful spring scenery. While the weather is often sunny, it can change quickly, especially in the mountains, so pack layers and a waterproof jacket. With sunsets as late as 10:00 pm, we'll have plenty of time to enjoy runs, hikes, activities, local cuisine, and relaxed evenings after each day's adventures.

Itinerary

Day 1

Welcome to England, where royal heritage, riverside paths, and warm pub hospitality set the tone for the journey ahead

Arrive any time today - London's Heathrow airport is just a 20-minute taxi ride from our hotel, making for an easy start to the adventure. This evening, we'll gather for our first group dinner and enjoy some classic British pub grub, hopefully dining al fresco along the River Thames.

We'll be staying in Royal Windsor, home to the magnificent Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and an official residence of His Majesty King Charles III. If you arrive early, join us for an optional shakeout run along the River Thames, taking in Eton College and the beautiful Windsor Great Park, and/or explore the castle before the adventure begins.

Today's adventure blends storybook villages, a countryside trail, and a taste of North Wales as we journey towards the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia)

An early start takes us into the Cotswolds, famous for its honey-coloured stone villages and rolling countryside. We'll kick off with our first official run—an easy route linking Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water—before refuelling with a well-earned British classic—tea and cake.

This afternoon, we'll paddle the Llangollen Canal, crossing the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, the highest navigable aqueduct in the world and a remarkable feat of Victorian engineering. Afterwards, we'll enjoy a classic pub lunch overlooking the River Dee before continuing to the picturesque village of Betws-y-Coed, the gateway to Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, where you'll have time to explore before dinner, and a well deserved rest!

Day 3

Today we conquer the highest peak in Wales before heading north to the spectacular landscapes of the Lake District

An early start takes us to the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), Wales' highest mountain at 1,085 m (3,560 ft) and the first of our UK Three Peaks challenge. Our 12km circular route combines runnable trail with steeper hiking sections, with most folks taking between 3 and 6 hours to complete it. At the summit, there's time to refuel with a coffee or snack from the famous mountain café before making your way back down.

After a well-earned lunch and celebratory toast at a cosy pub at the foot of the mountain, we'll enjoy a scenic drive north back into England, arriving in the beautiful Lake District National Park. A hearty dinner at the hotel and an early night will leave us rested for another challenging day ahead.

No time to rest those legs—we're back on the trail to conquer Scafell Pike, England's highest mountain at 978 m (3,209 ft) and the second peak of our UK Three Peaks challenge. Our 15.3km circular route winds through the spectacular Lake District National Park, with most taking between 4 and 7 hours to complete.

After celebrating our achievement with (you guessed it!) classic pub grub and a drink in a riverside beer garden, you’ll have free time to spend the afternoon exploring the vibrant market town of Keswick, nestled on the shores of Derwentwater. Browse independent shops, relax in one of the many cafés, or simply soak up the atmosphere before enjoying dinner at your choice of one of the town's excellent restaurants.

Day 5

Today we cross into Scotland, where dramatic landscapes, Highland legends, and unforgettable scenery await

We leave England behind and make our way into our third and final country, with a quick stop at Gretna Green, the world-famous village where runaway couples once crossed the border to marry. From there, we continue north to the shores of Loch Lomond, where you'll have the chance to stretch your legs on a relaxed run or hike taking in epic views, followed by an optional dip in the loch and a hearty Scottish pie for lunch.

This afternoon's drive is one of the most spectacular of the trip as we journey through the breathtaking landscapes of Glencoe, made famous by films including Skyfall and Harry Potter. We'll stop to admire waterfalls and the iconic Lone House at Lagangarbh, one of Scotland's most photographed scenes, before arriving at our hotel. With a pool and wellness facilities, it's the perfect place to relax before dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 6

Today we complete our UK Three Peaks challenge with the highest mountain in Britain before enjoying a well-earned afternoon of relaxation

One final climb awaits as we take on Ben Nevis, standing 1,345 m (4,413 ft) above sea level. Our 16km route is the longest of the challenge, with breathtaking Highland scenery accompanying us every step of the way. Most take 5–7 hours to reach the summit and return.

Back at the foot of the mountain, we'll celebrate at the legendary Ben Nevis Inn, where a large beer garden is the perfect place to watch fellow hikers finish while enjoying a well-earned lunch and pint of local cider. A short drive brings us back to our lochside hotel, where you can unwind in the pool and spa, relax by the water, or, if you're still feeling energetic, rent a kayak or stand-up paddleboard. From the dramatic landscapes of Glencoe to the magical Isle of Skye, today is packed with iconic Scottish scenery

This morning, we'll board a train from Fort William on the Jacobite Railway, crossing the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct—instantly recognisable from the Harry Potter films. We'll hop off at Glenfinnan, where before lacing up for a scenic run or hike with spectacular views of the viaduct from all angles. With the right pacing, we'll be in time to watch the steam train cross the arches, just like the Hogwarts Express on its way to Hogwarts!

After a BBQ lunch overlooking Loch Shiel, we'll continue along the stunning Road to the Isles to Mallaig, before catching the ferry to the Isle of Skye. Our day finishes with a visit to Talisker Distillery, Skye's oldest whisky distillery, where you'll discover how Scotland's most famous spirit is crafted—and, of course, enjoy a tasting.

We start the day with a run or hike through one of Skye's most iconic landscapes—the enchanting Fairy Pools, a series of crystal-clear pools and waterfalls set against the dramatic backdrop of the Cuillin Mountains. After returning to the hotel to freshen up, we'll enjoy an early lunch in Portree Harbour—and when you're on the coast, classic fish and chips feels like the perfect choice!

This afternoon, we'll head out on the water for a wildlife cruise, keeping our eyes peeled for white-tailed sea eagles, seals, dolphins, porpoises, and, if we're lucky, whales or basking sharks. We'll then continue exploring more of Skye's famous landscapes, including the mystical Fairy Glen, Mealt Falls at Kilt Rock, and the iconic Old Man of Storr—one of Scotland's most recognisable natural landmarks.

Our final Highland adventure brings together castles, canals, and the legendary waters of Loch Ness before one last evening together

Leaving the Isle of Skye, we'll take a different route back to the mainland, crossing the iconic Skye Bridge before stopping to admire the fairytale-like Eilean Donan Castle, one of Scotland's most photographed landmarks. We continue to Fort Augustus, where we'll stretch our legs on our flattest route of the trip—a scenic run or hike following the Caledonian Canal, with peaceful woodland trails and views towards Loch Ness.

Afterwards, enjoy lunch at your leisure in Fort Augustus, with plenty of waterside options to choose from, including some fantastic local seafood. Our final adventure takes us onto the legendary waters of Loch Ness, where we'll hear the stories and mysteries surrounding Nessie while cruising towards the dramatic ruins of Urquhart Castle, perched on the loch's edge.
